see your dentist: You should see your dentist to make sure it is not a vascular lesion. If it is a simple blister from trauma it generally resolves in 7-10 days. Many over the counter products will work. The general rule is to keep the area clean and avoid irritation.

Multivitamins: Just in case your symptoms are due to vitamin deficiency try taking an over the counter multivitamin. Any multivitamin will do. In addition use an emollient frequently. If that does not work, you may need to see your doctor.

Could be worrisome: You don't list your age, but skin cancers are pretty common on lips.  If you are not continuing to injure them, by for example, habitually chewing on them, you need to have a doctor, dermatologist, or even dentist check this.

May need exam/rx: This often reflects a colonization within the nasal tissues with a strain of staph. When clusters of such sores form they might respond to application of an antibiotic ointment on the sores and within the nasal entrance. However, sometimes it requires a round of antibiotics to eliminate the germ &amp; stop the sores.

Cold : Cold sores or fever blisters are caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (hsv-1) and are extremely common. Most people become infected as an infant or small child when kissed or by sharing eating utensils with an adult who has the virus. The virus is most contagious when someone has a cold sore, but can still be passed along by someone who does not. Many people do not even know that they are infected because the virus can "hide out" in the nerve cells for very long periods of time - for some people it hides out forever and they never get a cold sore. For others, the virus can "wake up" and that's when a cold sore happens. No one knows exactly what causes a cold sore to appear - sometimes stress, illness, fevers, colds, sunlight, cold weather, menstruation, certain foods, allergies, you name it!  they usually last 7-10 days and are more of an annoyance than a danger unless you have a weakened immune system or contract a bacterial infection on top of the cold sore (impetigo).

If your cold sores do not resolve as usual in 7-10 days or seem to be worsening, you should see your doctor.  You could be developing impetigo again or if you have another skin disease such as eczema, you may need more aggressive treatment to get your cold sores under control.  Good luck!

Not to worry: What you are describing is not out of the ordinary.  It sounds like trauma to a minor salivary gland.  In time ( several months) it will likely resolve on its own.  If it does not, please bring it to the dentists attention at your child's first dental visit.  Be well!
