Do NOT worry: The injection probably caused a mild local reaction, or even nicked a vein.  Unless the lump enlarges or gets hot or pustulent, nothing to worry about.

No: That should not be related to your ankle. But consider seeing your pcp to get that checked out.

Pain in hip: It is possible that during the shot a small blood vessel was injured thus the bruising and pain. The pain will likely resolve in time. Try icing the area. If no improvement consult your doctor.

low b12 = 220,  deficient vit d=20, low iron. ultrasound found- 8cm x 11cm fibroid, extreme lower back, hip and shoulder pain. is any of this related?

Yes: B12 is high, not low. Vitamin d3 is very low and may be the connecting link. It needs to be between 60 and 80 and is now thought to be the commonest vitamin deficiency. Since it has its effect in every cell, it can cause many diagnoses. The fibroid is probably only minor.

Back strain: Probably not a "slipped" disk. This sounds more like a back strain. This should respond to muscle relaxers, NSAIDs, stretches, heat, time and manipulation.

Back pain: If you haven't yet seen a Physical Therapist I strongly recommend that you do. If you have done so already without success I would recommend you see an orthopedist.

Hard to say: Though a vitamin, the injectable form of b-12 usually requires a prescription.  Unless one has a significant case of pernicious anemia, some type of bowel problem or bowel surgery and a few other instances, b-12 by injection can be sujpplanted by oral or sublingual b-12.  You should know your b-12 level if you are concerned and be careful.  You can mask other problems.

Absolutely: B12 in the form of methyl cobalamin is necessary for numerous biochemical pathways.  It can prevent psychoses, nerve tissue degeneration and megaloblastic anemia.  Methyl B12 can be given safely at doses up to 3mg intramuscularly and can be given weekly in those patients who cannot absorb it through the GI tract.  There are no known side-effects of having to much.

i have been giving my wife vitamin b12 shots in her upper arm. last time she said her arm feels numb there. anything to worry about?

VITAMIN B12 SHOTS: You may have hit a nerve in the arm. The chances are the numbness will disappear. But if you are concerned, see a doctor.

Perhaps: The localized injections described usually have limited widespread bodily effects, and it would be very unusual to experience hot flashes after these, but due to the multiple complicated effects of steroids, such problems are not unheard of.  Consult with the doctor who injected you.
