Dry eyes: Typically cannot be cured.  However, they can be managed effectively with a variety of different eye drops.  Sometimes, your symptoms may be caused by other eye issues.  If they are treated, then your symptoms may go away permanently.

Not usually: Dry eyes can be caused by some medications and can be irritated by quite a few things (e.g. smoke, sunlight, air travel). So if you have one of those situations, address accordingly. often, however, it is an intrinsic problem. If you wear contact lenses, Then you need to be extra careful. Some people believe that taking Omega-3/6 fatty acid supplements may help. There are also many lubricants OTC.

Dry eye: Tears naturale (artificial tears) is safe for the eyes.  They can be used every 1 to 2 hours for dry eye, if needed.  Remember to take frequent breaks when using the computer for long periods of time.  Alternate choices include systane and theratears.

Dry eyes: Often respond to regular dosing of artificial tears.  If you are having persistent symptoms, then you should see your ophthalmologist to make sure there is nothing else contributing to your symptoms.  Also, he/she will be able to prescribe other types of drops or other medications to help.

do i get more uv damage with wet eyes or dry eyes? i use lubricating eye drops every two hours. i always avoid the sun and bright sunlight after putting in drops, until eyes dry. should i continue this precaution or is it okay to get sun in wet eyes?

Keep wet: The eye drops should prevent sun damage. Drying of the eyes can be part of the development of keratitis.  I am unaware of any literature that suggests the wetting the eyes intensifies the rays and makes them more prone to sun injury. In fact treatment for sunburned eyes is saline drops.

im pretty sure i have dry eyes.. because i get blurry vision form time to time wich causes anxiety for me. i cant use eye drops because i freak out is there anything else i can do? also makeup irrates my eyes if that helps sometimes bright lights

Learn to use them: If you have dry eyes the primary &amp; quickest way to help is use of artificial tears/drops. You may be able to get one of the clinic nurses to help you learn to tug down the skin below the eye,create a shelf &amp; put drops there rather than directly in (which many have problems with). A supplement called HydroEye is sold for this problem but I find it of minimal if any benifit.

Depends on the sorce: There are several common reasons peoples eyes get red. The most common is likely blepharoconjuctivitus. This is a chronic condition with infection in the glands that line the eyelid (meibomian glands). Other reasons include allergy, infection, thyroid problems and others.

Warm compresses: Red eyes can be due to many things including eyelid disease.  Warm compresses are often helpful for this.

Red eyes: Unfortunately the appropriate drops will be necessary for the specific cause of the red eye, but if you are willing to persist with this condition without treatment that is your choice.  The condition could become enough of a problem to require  therapy and you will the  have to change your thinking.
