Several causes...: Your fluid retention may be from the intravenous fluids you received during your operation and recovery.  You may also be (relatively) , malnourished, with decreased protein stores which can also cause swelling.  Follow up with your surgeon.  Good luck, feel better.

Endoscopic surgery??: Surgeons will add gas to the area to help visualize the site better.  The gas will go away on it's own over time.  I have not heard of any way to speed up the process.  If you mean gas in the stomach, just take some antacids or gas-x.

Time: Presuming you are referring to an abdominal operation, i commonly hear from patients that their abdomen is swollen for weeks after the operation despite the fact that they don't look swollen to me. The patient however is a much better judge about their abdominal girth than me. What I do know is that it is common, and resolves without treatment. Severe cases may require more investigation however.
