is old balsamic vinegar healthy to have in salads?

Generally yes: I know that when i go shopping for balsamic vinegar the ones that have been aged for 5 years cost more, and the ones aged for 10 years even more, suggesting that, like a fine wine, the flavor gets better with age. So as long as it has not gone rancid (which you should be able to tell by its tasting bad), old balsamic vinegar is perfectly fine to have.

how can you cover up both the bad smell and taste of vinegar when it's used in salad dressings?

Vinegar: Vinegar is acetic acid, it naturally has a tart and acidic tast. Mixing well with oil and spices is the most common way to modify the tartness.

Expired food: I would not eat any more of it but you will most likely be ok.

No: not really.  It can cause stomach upset in some peopke, there can also be some dental erosion.  There may be some interactions with some medications but you have to be consuming significant amounts of vinegar. I say enjoy it.

No.: Vast amounts of acetate (the vinegary stuff in vinegar) get made and broken down by the body every minute, anyway.

No: ETG test requires intake of alcohol. Vinegar is dilute acetic acid, not alcohol.

Depends on oil: Salad dressings that contain healthy monounsaturated oils like olive oil and non-hydrogented coconut oils are healthier than salad dressings containing added sugar. Calories are secondary to how the body processes the food and the affect that the food has on the release of insulin. Sugar is essentially very unhealthy even in small quantities.

yesterday ate salad w/vinegar,tongue was bothering me,when i looked,right side looked reddish & one spot looked like a small slice in it, i dont remember biting it, looks better today but still looks cut, is this a worry? dont smoke or drink at all?

: It will go away by itself in few days . 
In the mean time rinse your mouth with Luke warm salt water which will help in quick healing .If it does not go away in few days ,see your Dentist .
