is it ok to cook and feed frozen fish for my kid who is 10 months old?

Accepted Answer

No: Usually i like to introduce " hyper- allergenic foods" like sea foods, peanut butter etc only after the child's immune system is fully developed--- which is after 18 months. Research has repeatedly shown premature triggers to immune system with allergens can produce allergies, asthma etc later in in life.

Cook: No, I do not think that three minutes over cooking would cause this

i'm a college student and have no time to cook fresh fish rich in  3.can eating canned tuna & sardines be a substitute & are they also rich in 3?

Accepted Answer

Sardines are: Tuna also has them, but it would also have mercury.  You can also take supplemental omega 3s, just make sure it is good quality.  Costco brand is actually pretty good, and not expensive.

i take omega 3-6-9 capsules daily using the recommended dosage of 2 capsules 3x daily. this totals to 1200mg of fish, flax, & borage oil per day. on top of this, i take 1 capsule of 1000mg pumpkin seed oil per day. is this safe?

: For a young healthy adult who takes a normal diet I think all dietary supplements are a waste of money and unhelpful. Too much of a good thing is not necessarily a good thing. You can also check with your MD on that.

Most fixed: Of all the lipoprotein fractions, HDL seems to be the most "fixed" by genetics and the most difficult to alter by behavioral changes. The things you have done, especially niacin and lowering triglycerides, should have the most effect. Physical activity, ideal weight maintenance, and, maybe a glass of red wine a day, might also be of help. Sante!

Supplements : Can cause your urine to look strange  colors, especially B vitamins so if you urinate over stool it might look that way

He can't eat them: Shellfish allergy often lasts a lifetime and he should avoid shellfish.  You should not even consider kissing him within a few hours after you have eaten shellfish. Be sure he carries  adrenaline syringes with him at all times. Nag him if you must- just tell him that you can't live without him.  The reaction may be just hives swelling but rarely death.  Consult an allergist.

Crab allergy: You are very lucky. Most people who are allergic to a shell fish are allergic to most other shel fish.
