No: If the pots are well-made, then the material (metal, copper, non-stick surface, ceramic, etc) should not cause heart problems even if a flake or two comes off occasionally.

MAYBE risky: Teflon is the name for the chemical polytetrafluoroethylene (ptfe). In some studies teflon pans release at least six toxic gases, including two carcinogens, two pollutants, and mfa, a chemical lethal to humans at low doses.  Some 'purists' advocate going back to stainless steel pans or cast-iron cookware.

is pots an all the time type of thing?sometimes when i stand up, hr will be in 120''s but majority of time it is 100% normal in the 90's.athlete?

No: That is not normal in an athlete or anyone else.  Need to get adrenal hormone levels checked

Yes: Excessive heat can destroy, disrupt, denature some nutrients and proteins but may also kill harmful bacteria.

Malaria: It is possible to have chicken pox along with malaria. It is also possible to have chicken in the pot when you have malaria.

i was diagnosed with pots what is the best time to take fludrocortisone. morning, noon, afternoon or night and why.

Accepted Answer

It won't really: make any difference as to what time you take your medication. It takes almost three weeks or more to reach a steady state with regard to the mineralocorticoid effects of the medication. The key will be to take it at a time that improves your compliance and allows you to avoid missing any doses.

Define POTS: I am uncertain what you mean by pots. Fibromyalgia is not necessarily defined as dysautonomia. Very few people with fibromyalgia have dysautonomia.

Tilt table : Tilt table tests are helpful when they are positive some people with pots will tilt negative

i have pots syndrome. i'm going south for a week, last time i swelled to my waist, very painful, could not walk. what can i take/do this time to help?

Compression stocking: Some of my pots patients have had good success with compression stockings of the jobst variety but they are seriously squeezing at 40mm. Hg compression rating and i usually want them to wear thigh highs since venous pooling can also occur in the abdominal circulation.  Down side with these stockings?  Most people have a rough time keeping them on...They are tight and require help to on/off.

can i safely use my oven for cooking to decontaminate a disposable mask that i wear in a hospital unit?  the mask is put in a closed paper bag at 200 fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

Accepted Answer

NO!: Cooking oven is not appropriate for sterilization or heating articles made of paper or plastic (fire hazard). If you really need it, a simpler way is to use desinfectant sprays or wash in   water with soap or detergent.
