Bcp's: pregnant?: Taking three bcp's  may prevent pregnancy, but this is not certain.  If you were on oral birth control, you should already be protected.  If you miss your next period, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain.

does the antibiotic ciprofloxacin interact with birth control pills such as tri-sprintec?

Can: Ciprofloxin can reduce the effects of estrogen and cause breakthrough bleeding but the progestin is what is providing the contraception and estrogen is only in the pills to regulate your periods so there should not be a loss of protection against pregnancy. Hope this helps.

Not competely: The lining of the uterus needs to resurface to stay healthy.  Laike any surface of the body it only lasts so long.  Longest without a period would be three months.

i have been taking birth control pills for 2 weeks (sprintec 1st week, yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 2nd week) and have had continuous bleeding since yesterday. is that normal?

Yes: Having irregular bleeding in the first 1-2 cycles of birth control pills is common. That's because the hormones in the pill are coming into balance with the women's hormones. If a woman has this breakthrough bleeding after the 3rd cycle she may need a different pill.  Since you changed pills between the first 2 weeks there's more chance of bleeding. Take pill same time each day helps prevent this.

No interaction w Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol): As per LexiComp and ePocrates, there is no interaction between Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine).  Likewise, there is no interaction between Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and chlorpheniramine with the decongestants ephedrine or pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine,  with the cough suppressant dextromethorphan, with the expectorant guaifenesine, or with acetaminophen.

i am 22 & on birth control pills (yaz) and have been for over a year. i have brown discharge mostly when i wipe. is this normal? what should i do?

Common: This type of bleeding/discharge is common on the pill.  The pill is still effective and this is more of a nuisance than a problem.  The two options are to stay on this pill and see if it resolves or change pills.

Ask prescriber: Varicose veins, which are swollen, twisted, painful veins can be predisposed to deep venous thrombosis when birth control pills are taken. Current birth control medications do have less tendency to cause dvt. Female hormones tend to relax vein walls. Taking hormone birth control pills mayfemale hormones may increase  risk of varicose veins.
