A member asked:

I have been taking birth control pills for 2 weeks (sprintec 1st week, yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 2nd week) and have had continuous bleeding since yesterday. is that normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Having irregular bleeding in the first 1-2 cycles of birth control pills is common. That's because the hormones in the pill are coming into balance with the women's hormones. If a woman has this breakthrough bleeding after the 3rd cycle she may need a different pill. Since you changed pills between the first 2 weeks there's more chance of bleeding. Take pill same time each day helps prevent this.
