can you have atrial fibrillation with a slow heart rate 60-100?

Yes: atrial fibrillation is when the atrium is beating not in coordination with the ventricle. It beats around 200 beats a minute.  If the ventricular rate is controlled it beats 60-100 beats a minute.  Since the are not synchronized there is a higher risk of blood clots in the heart which then can be thrown to the brain causing a stroke.n that is why we use blood thinners.

Well: Does not work quite like that. Also you have other risk factors like the alcohol. This is very damaging to the heart. Now the atrial fib puts  you at risk for throwing a clot. This clit is the potential danger to you

if i have a history of atrial fibrillation and tachycardia is it bad that my heart rate has been 144 all day?

Accepted Answer

Yes.: If the heart rate is elevated for prolonged periods of time, there is a risk for tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy - or weakening of the heart from rapid heart rates.  This is usually reversible once the heart rate is corrected.  You should see your cardiologist for evaluation.

is it possible to have afib at a lower heart rate 56 bpm? i was advised by my doc to get kardia mobile ecg to record when i have symptomatic palpitations. i used it a few days ago and it said "possible atrial fibrillation". false positive by chance?

A fib : An ifb can have a low ventricle rate, most of the time has a high rate.  The ventricle rate is usually the one that produces the QRS on the EKG (larger complex waves) .

should i be worried if my resting heart rate is suddenly between 50-60bpm? i do feel a bit out of breath, and heart is fluttering a bit. i have been diagnosed with atrial fibrilation before due to hypothyroidism, and was on verahexal for 6 months?

Check thyroid levels: Your pulse rate is not necessarily a problem, but could be a sign of low thyroid function, or less likely, presentation of a mild cardiac dysrhthmia in view of your history.  Since this is complex, urge you contact your doctor, have thyroid blood studies and an updated EKG, at the least.

See a cardiologist: Please review him with his Cardiologist asap. His symptoms are suggesting worsening Atrial fibrillation, Obstructive Sleep apnoea and therefore a possibility of Heart failure as well. He needs ti be reviewed by a doctor as soon as possible to avoid any complications developing.

Depends: Some monitors may miscount if you have a very fast irregular pulse but it'll probably be accurate. There are a number of other apps you could use to correlate, or do it the old fashion way: feel your pulse in your neck (or wrist) for thirty seconds and multiply by 2.

Not always: It certainly can be.  Although there are multiple instances when one can have an "irregular heartbeat'. You should see your doctor so an ekg can be done or possibly a monitoring device ordered to evaluate further.
