had my membranes stripped today. im 39 weeks 1cm and 50% effacted. will i go into labor soon of will it not work?

Crystal ball: Unfortunately, it is impossible to know.     In favorable conditions where the patient is 2 or more cm dilated, there is a better chance.     But, if 48 hours pass after stripping, it didn't really work for you.

Be careful...: Stripping membranes can help ripen the cervix.  It can also increase your risk of a uterine infection.  It isn't recommended for you to do it on yourself.  Best wishes.

i am 38+4 wks, dilated to a 3, effaced at 60%. i got a membrane sweep today. how good are my chances that i will go into labor this weekend?

Soon: There really are no guarantees. But the team is doing all they can to stimulate this naturally.

i'm  40 wks on wednesday, i had my membranes sweeped 8hrs ago and pretty sure i just lost my mucus plug how long till i could go into labor? i was 2cm

Accepted Answer

Varies: Although the loss of the mucus plug suggests that things are moving in the right direction and the cervix is thinning and dilating, it says nothing about actual active labor. You can stay this way for hours or days and if its first baby, maybe a week or two. On the positive side, it could also herald the start of labor and you could find yourself in the delivery room tonight:-)

im 38 weeks pregnant, will a exercise ball help me go into labor? what are the chances of a membrane stripping at 39 weeks work also.

Bouncing can help: You could also do pretend jump roping for a total of 60 minutes a  day in 10 minute sessions.  Eating eggplant can be a help. Stripping membranes is not a good idea unless the cervix is effaced completely and beginning to dilate since it can cause rupture of the membranes  and a need to deliver in 24 hours to prevent infection.

i was told today i am 80-90% effaced and 2.5cm dilated ...this is my second child....will i go into labor soon?

Maybe/not: I have seen such women go to 41 wks before their 2nd delivery, or 39/40 &amp; some even earlier than 36. Predicting labor in the absence of more information about your current pregnancy is prone to error.

when i have my cervical cerclage removed what are my chances or how soon will i go into labor? will there b any bleeding?

Variable: It just depends on several different factors. Sometimes you may even go full term and land up being induced. Average is about a week. Good Luck!

Diarrhea...: You will have diarrhea and some contractions but may not go into full-blown labor.  Time will tell.  Best wishes.

22 wks with braxton hicks that are regular and painful at times. pressure in my pelvic area. will i go into labor early?

Check timing: If the Braxton Hicks contractions occur at shortening intervals and regularly, the risk for early labor is much higher.
