Nortrip & Albuterol: That depends upon many things, like the dose of nortriptyline and if albuterol is being used daily or only as needed. The most significant interaction to look for is qt prolongation, or other heart arrhythmias. It is important to do careful screening for heart disease. Monitoring with blood levels of nortriptyline and routine ekg's may also be advised.

Several choices: A long acting bronchodilator in combination with an inhaler steroid, (prescription only), is probably the next step.  An inhaled steroid might work as well.  Other medicines, like Singular are also available

was rxed qnasl and aerospan for severe asthma. had to switch to flonase because qnasl too expensive. no insurance. using albuterol more. any advice?

Yes: I have no problem with Flonase which likely works just well as Qnasl.  However you should not use albuterol alone for your asthma since it may actually make your asthma worse if used regularly.  Resume Aerospan or talk to your pharmacist to see which inhaled steroid is least expensive for you. Some drug companies may provide free supplies for financial hardship.

Probably not: What you described is more likely hyperventilation syndrome except for the itching. These drugs are more likely to cause tremor and occasionally muscle cramps and not the symptoms you have described. Uncontrolled asthma may cause hyperventilation which may cause the tingling and 
"prickliness" sensation.  Although allergy to steroid itself has been reported, it it mostly related to contact allergy

COPD?: She may have copd. Cxr and pfts are very useful. Most patients need anti inflammatory medications such as inhaled steroids. Spiriva is often quite useful also. Albuterol dilates the airways but does not treat the underlying inflammation. Have her checked by a lung doc.

Possibly: Both meds are in the family of tcas & have similar side-effect profiles. That does not mean that your side effects to one will be the same as it is to the other med. Almost every med has the possible side-effect of dry mouth but if you need it you mayneed to deal with it. There are other ways to combat dry mouth - keeping hydrated with water is the best but your dentist should be able to guide you.
