Zyprexa can be: very effective for a number of psychiatric disorders including paranoia and hallucinations. It does need to be individualized though so if it is not helping you for a specific problem you need to discuss this with your health care provider. Additive medication or a change in medication might be indicated.

if you are generally doing well on zyprexa but have gained a lot of weight can you change & take geodon for less weight gain. also if geodon doesn't work out can i go back to zyprexa safely bc i wish zyprexa will work good again when i go back to it?

: The best person to manage your medication is your Psychiatrist. If you are not confident in your Psychiatrist please see another for a second opinion. It is advisable to receive Psychotherapy from a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy along with your medication. Your Primary Care Physician can give you a physical exam and recommend treatment for your weight.

my doc me advised zoloft (sertraline) 100mg & zyprexa 5mg .my problem is that with zyprexa i can't even wake up in mornings & go work. any advise that save my job?

There are plenty : there are plenty alternatives to both Zoloft (sertraline) and zyprexa in their own classes on medications. Depending from causes of your depression social anxiety old treatment could be directed to non psychotropic route as well. You might need to ask your doc directly for it. Thanks.

Not sleep medication: Zyprexa (olanzapine) is not a recommended treatment for sleep in of itself. It is an indicated treatment for chronic mood and/or interrelated psychotic conditions which, if untreated, can disrupt sleep. Amongst other potential adverse effects, zyprexa can cause significant weight gain. There are effective alternative agents for sleep and/or mental health conditions which may disrupt sleep.

Unknown: there is no cure for bipolar just management of the symptoms  Often you cannot come off the medication but you can get to the lowest dose possible  Also if you do stop you need to know when to start again  Go to another provider for a second opinion whether you are bipolar or not since it is a lifetime diagnosis

Several things: Approved uses our schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Off label uses are for the stabilization of certain types of personality disorders, intermittent explosive disorder, and sometimes as an appetite stimulant in severe forms of anorexia nervosa.
