what kind of drug test do most employers give pre-employment?

Many actually don't: Big companies may require drug testing before employment, but current many are not doing it, yet. That being said, the trend is increasing use of drug test before employment. Usually test for: marijuana, narcotics (morphine, percocet, vicodin, Methadone etc..), hypnotics (xanax, klonopin, (clonazepam) valium), cocaine, pcp, lsd, alchol. Best advice: just don't do it. It depends: It depends on the person. Not all people are equally intelligent or equally coordinated.

Yes: It is usually to advantage your referral from someone who knows the facility to which you are going. Picking name out of a insurance book based on location alone is not the best way to find a specialist or physical therapy etc.

as a triage rn with sle, i'm concerned about coronavirus & complications. there are cases in our area. is it reasonable to ask my employer to stick to phone triage only with no patient contact at this time so i can continue to work full time?

Sounds reasonable: Healthcare is a team effort, so it is wise to put the least vulnerable team members on the front line. Humans transmit coronaviruses, so a job with minimal direct human contact should have a high safety level when it comes to respiratory viruses. Of course, even if you have contact with only one human, you can catch a virus if that one human has it. Life can be full of surprises.

can i work as a firefighter while taking xanax my wife has stage 4 breast cancer and the stress was giving me anxiety. i was prescribe .05 mg xanax 2x per day  i feel it has helped me. however i don't know how my employer will feel about it

Hello. : Hello. I do not know that answer to that question. Here is the problem, a medication like xanax (alprazolam) is mood altering. It can make you sedated or slow your reaction times. This could make you less responsive and less effective as a fire fighter. You are in a high risk profession, so you need to be fully aware and awake.  If you were a diver or a pilot in the military, being on this type of mediation (benzodiazapine) would render you unsuitable for the job. My guess would be that there are guidelines for health restrictions in your area. The most responsible thing to do is to talk to your employer about it. I am very sorry about your wife's illness. I think its like: 95$ per month, about 5$ under the cost of most low cost insurances in your age group.  Good luck. You may be able to stay on your parents for now though.

Carefully: As you know, there are many plans and they are difficult to compare. Talk to your hr person. They can steer you in the right direction based on your age and current health. I would stick with the larger insurers in your area, they usually have the better plans with a larger list of providers in their network. Dr l.

how do federal laws require employers to treat those with disabilities?

No discrimination: The laws basically try to make it fairer for those with disabilities to work. For example: jack is good with computer and has no disabilty, and joe is also good with computer but he has no legs--must use wheelchair. Joe can do all the computer work just as well as jack can--so, the law requires that company hiring jack/joe provide ramp access/elevator so joe can get to work. Hope that makes sense.

why do people opt for non-employer sponsored plans? aren't they covered at work?

Some more suitable: Heathcare is expensive and a company providing health coverage its for employees must spend huge dollars. Because of cost, benefits maybe limitted and so some employees may opt for another medical plan else where to meet their medical needs. Or, his/her spouse working elsewhere has a better plan. Talk to your human resource office to find out what is provided vs what you need. Good luck.
