Treat the cause: There are multiple causes of gastritis and the cause needs to be treated. Honey, per se, is not a treatment for any disease.

Gastritis : Oral medications such as Tums  and mylanta are still the quickest. Pepcid and  zantac (ranitidine) can help stop it and keep it away. If you continue to have problems you need to be evaluated by your physician.

Rabeprazole: The usual dose is 20mgs once daily but in my opinion to treat h pylori or severe cases of gastritis it could be taken twice a day for a limited time of 2-4 weeks. Your pharmacist probably has more information on this topic.

Chronic gastritis: The majority of patients with chronic gastritis, if not due to H.pylori or pernicious anemia, are usually asymptomatic. So curing this problem is in general not necessary.
 Just be sure you have been tested for H. Pylori and have had a Vitamin B12 level done.

Change your : Diet and ask your doctor about sucralafate. That might help. Also, avoid nsaids.

2 week trial: You could try a 2 week trial of an over-the-counter medication such as omeprazole.  However, if symptoms persist or recur, a visit to a gastroenterologist might be the best approach.
