Wow! : Wow! that's like asking how much to fix my car.  I understand that you need to get an idea of how affordable this is going to be so here is what you need to do. Take your daughter to an orthodontist (or two) who will do an examination for little or no charge. The office should be able to give you an idea of what her diagnosis and treatment plan might be, as well as the cost.  Then you can put that information up on avvo and ask if that seems to be a fair price for the work that is needed.

Minor: The amount of 'pain' people experience from conventional orthodontic braces varies from person to person.  What one individual considers nothing at all, somebody else with the same condition may report severe pain. Bottom line: most all people have some discomfort that is easily treated with otc pain medication. This discomfort is temporary and will go away. You'll be fine. Talk to your doc too !

Minutes: It takes just a few minutes to disconnect the braces from the teeth.  It takes longer to remove the residual bonding material from the teeth and then polish the teeth.  Additional time required to take impressions for retainers and to go over post-braces oral hygiene instructions.  Ask your Treating Dentist or Orthodontic Specialist how much time you should set aside.

Not only did they adopt much of the modern concepts coming from the usa in the 40's and 50's, but due to a wonderful orthodontist, paul raymond begg in adelaide sw australia, he created a whole different technique, that has been incorporated into ortho around the world. Costs, adjusted for conversion are similar.
