Primrose oil: I recommend that never take snake oil like primrose oil. There has been no good research and they can add anything they want (and do) : arsenic, mercury, Viagra, steroids to mention a few.

Accepted Answer

1000-2000mg: Oil of primrose can help some people with their pms symptoms.  Usually you have to take a big enough dose from a well produced drug company for it to work.  Use 1-2grams per day starting at the lower dose; if it does not work after 1-2 months increase it .   If it does not help by then, it is probably not going to work for you.

Depends: You can start with 1gm of primrose oil, but it is good to balance it with a good fish oil and some flax.  It would be a good idea to get in for evaluation to see if you need the vitamin D and the vitamin B complex.  Good Luck!

Evening primrose: Depends on why you are taking it (what are you treating?) and the brand you are using. Active ingredient concentrations vary widely between products since supplements are not regulated by the fda. Also, if you are taking prescription meds &/or other supplements, there may be drug interactions that affect the active levels of the different drugs.

Depends: Oil of primrose is often used for pms and has an additional fat for those who need it.  It is usually fine to take and causes few symptoms, perhaps GI is the most common.  You need about 1-2 grams for it to help with pms.  It does not help everyone but it is worth a try rather than a prescription drug.

Not wise: Both passion flower and evening primrose oil contain chemicals that may reduce the blood's ability to form clots. When taken together, they can increase the risk of dangerous bleeding.

No advantage: Spirulina is a bacterium cultivated as a food supplement worldwide. Dried spiralina contains about 60% protein, and is superior typical plant protein, i.e. legumes.It is no better than milk or meat as a protein source and is 30 TIMES more expensive per gram. Evening primrose oil comes from the evening primrose plant and is touted as helpful for many conditions, little proof.
