UTI diagnosis: There are low cost, over the counter test strips that can help diagnose UTI. If positive or if you otherwise strongly suspect you have a UTI, you need to see a doctor for conclusive diagnosis and treatment. Be aware that in women your age, STDs can cause similar symptoms as UTi; if sexually active, you may need testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.

Resistant UTI: I am not clear whether a urine culture was done. Taking an antibiotic does not mean, infection will go away. Infection, could be resistant to the antibiotic taken. If sexually active at this age, treatment/ diagnosis  would change entirely. Get checked.

No: A urinary tract infection is most commonly caused when bacteria that live in your colon start to travel up your urethra and into your bladder.  Eating a high salt diet would not make this any more likely to happen.

Small amounts: In some cases a UTI will cause an irritation of the lining of the bladder. This is called hemorrhagic cystitis. This can cause some blood in the urine. In most cases it is not a lot but it can be alarming. This should clear within a week of being treated for the uti. If you have continued bleeding after the infection is cleared then you need a follow up appointment with your doctor.

Hematuria: With a UTI, hematuria can be graded as trace or gross hematuria which can be graded anywhere from 1+ to 3+ on a simple urinalysis and associated. The only "normal" hematuria associated with a UTI is the kind that goes away. Remember hematuria can be contaminant from menstruation/hemorrhoids. Any RBC casts or&gt; 3-5 red blood cells per high powered field is going to make a MD look for other causes

Possibly: Generally if a UTI is truly present, one would do better using an antibiotic. The use of otc products such as cranberry juice or water can be helpful   there are other meds that can be used as well that relax the bladder discomfort. Good idea to get a urine culture to verify the infection and the use of the antibiotic.

Get checked..: Need urine and discharge exam and culture....possible infection, more so if sexually active.

Urinalysis: Any urgent or a primary care office should carry out a quick urine dip to determine an uti. An official test would be a urine culture which takes longer.  Otherwise your clinical symptoms such as burning, frequency, urgency, chills, fever and hestinancy would increase likelihood.

No: Klarycid or Clarithromycin is used to treat upper respiratory and sinus infections.  It is not effective for the bacteria usually found in utis and would not be recommended for that purpose.
