Of course: it may be that your OB thinks you'll have better success with fertilizing  a donor egg because of your age, but just because you are older is not an absolute contraindication to conception. Risk factors for older women ( &gt;35) include congenital birth defects, malpresentation, gestational or type 2 Diabetes, hypertension, placental insufficiency and a few more. BUT you are in the drivers seat !

Complicated: For some women removing the cyst will be harmful and other helpful. Your fsh and amh value, age, location of ovaries, size of the cyst must all be taken into account. There is no general correct answer this is highly individualized.

Second Opinion: DO another cycle of IVF with another doctor. If still there is no fertilization, then that is possible that your egg quality is not the best. Maybe go to Australia, London or Germany and USA to see what happens here.

Overview here ...: First you choose either an anonymous egg donor (usually under 30) or a known donor. The donor is tested for egg supply, infections, genetic or psychological issues. When you are ready, the donor receives shots to make multiple eggs then has eggs removed. The eggs are fertilized in the lab with your partner's sperm, grow into embryos, and the best 1-2 embryos are replaced. Any extras can be frozen.

Do you mean : Side effects or risks? An egg retrieval is a procedure so there really are not 'side effects, ' there are results: belly soreness, feeling tired, crampy feeling, brief nausea are all possible and common. Do you mean risks? Risks are very low but can include bleeding, infection, and failure to recover eggs; discuss these with your own ivf doctor and good luck.

It varies...: It varies according to each ivf program's cutoff age.  Many programs stop using a woman's own eggs at 43, as pregnancy success after 43 is extremely low.  Some programs, though, individualize treatments and allow a woman to try well into her 40's. Find an open-minded board certified re who will work with you (or you can come here.)!

60-70%: If you transfer two embryos in day 5 you have a 60-70% chance of pregnancy. A lot depends on the quality of the lab . . As well as the requirements of your program.

Yes: Freezing embryos is more reliable than freezing eggs. Eggs are more likely to be damaged in the freezing process, however, improvements in freezing techniques have improved egg survival and function after thaw. Despite advancements, embryo freezing remains superior to egg freezing.

Depends on situation: Recurrence risk for traditional 21 trisomy ds is 1% plus any age related risk. If the 1st offspring   has a translocation ds (2%) which is extra 21 material derived from a balanced carrier parent, it could be quite high.Standards for ivf donation are set by the centers involved and encompass many health and medical history factors.Contacting that center would be necessary to answer such a question.

i am just experiencing my 6th failed ivf cycle with donor eggs.  two re's can't figure out the problem.  is there anything you recommend investigating?

You could get 1 more: Opinion. Otherwise, as the eggs are donor eggs it's possible your body won't accept the embryo. You have two competent reproductive endocrinologists and presumably a maternal fetal medicine specialist, so if the procedure doesn't work, you can keep trying, see what another doc thinks or start looking to adopt a baby. Sometimes the mind is willing but the flesh won't yield. Consider other options.
