2-3 days: On average 1-2 days.  Sometimes as long as one week.  Majority of my patient has no pain at all after treatment.  Take the pain medicine your dentist prescribed.  If you are concerned talk to your dentist.

Pain after RCT: Recovering from root canal therapy (rct) really depends on your healing as well as how deep the nerve damage was prior to rct.  You may feel some pain after the treatment but  better after a few days. However, it is still common to have dull aches for weeks, sometimes months. Make sure the filling is not hitting too heavily after rct. If you have pain, have your dentist double check on the tooth.

Not long: Usually a day or two depending on the situation. I would get a homeopathic remedy called traumeel (get the liquid) and use 6 drops 4 times a day for the next two days..If you still have pain see your dentist.

15 years or more: Crowns have an average life span of 15 years provided you continue to brush and floss around this tooth. However, if the root  or tooth fractures, then the tooth would need to be extracted. This crown could also remain in your mouth for the rest of your life.  There are a lot of variables in play here.  Discuss this question with your dentist.

Not Long: The tooth becomes brittle after a root canal and a final restoration is highly recommended. Not getting the final crown may be playing with fire. I have seen well done root canals fail under a temporary crown in less then one year.

Depends: The discomfort often depends upon the severity of the infection in each tooth and the root canal process.  Is the pain the result of temperature (hot, cold,) or biting?    Give it time.  It can take a week to 10 days for discomfort to hopefully subside.  I would call if you have any doubts.

Usually 1 to 2 days: A root canal involves removing the nerve from the tooth which alleviates some and sometimes all pain. However if an infection was present, the pain may not completely subside untill infection is gone.

Few days....: There generally is pain after the local anesthetic wears off; the dentist should explain and warn about that depending how invasive the procedure is, whether he had to clear out infection, or abscess at the root.  He should also give you a script for pain medication appropriate to the procedure, and appropriate to his knowledge of your pain threshold and ability to handle pain. Call, get advice.
