no there in law is gettin spinal stimulator surgery. had a bad history with pain meds and they are planning to give them to her after procedure. any alternatives that wont leave her in too much pain? will ib 800s work?

Disc replacement : It depends howamy discs are involved. We have the ability to replace damaged discs with artificial discs which is a better option than with fusions that can damage the others levels with time.

chronic spinal pain : You seem to have chronic pain. You listed age seems young for the symptoms .It may be helpful to have a full work up. You may also benefit from psychological support and physical therapy.

Now try the surgeon.: You really need to try going back to the surgeon or, if that is not possible, see another. A ton of pain does not seem the normal course, so before you cause damage, have a spinal surgeon evaluate your post operative status.

i went for a spinal correction surger about 2+ years ago, everything was fine but for almost a year now ive been exspercieng extreme hip and lower back pain.

kindly advise what to do as i cant keep on taking pain meds to ease the pain?

Back pain: Double check with your surgeon, if you have not already.  Physical therapy would very likely help and doing regular back exercises. Epidural steroid may be of help and chiropactic or message therapy can be a benefit.

Knee pain: Many sources and your symptoms sound like cartilage damage, possible ligament damage.  Use some ice, then heat alternating, if you can afford a brace, if not try a wrap. Ibuprofen may help with pain.  Try to walk without putting weight on your bad leg, then twisting.  This will reduce pain.  If not improving, and it may not, you need to be seen by pcp or an orthopedic physician.

No: Typically not. The pain may have changed or the medicine may have not worked that well initially giving a false impression of relief. Different types of pain require different types of treatment.

Treating rheumatoid arthritis requires anti-inflammatory medications and sometimes immune suppression medications to control the inflammation, just you will have less pain. Pain medications can be used to temporarily relieve your symptoms but it is not the main treatment. Discuss it further with your local physician
