Bee sting: What a horrible spot to get stung. Take a dose of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and be checked as your tongue is part of your airway. All the best.

It Can Be: A bee sting anywhere on the body can cause pain and swelling. Especially in oral tissues (like the tongue), the swelling can be quite extensive. You can imagine what happens next...If the swelling is extreme, it can completely close off your airway and make it impossible to breathe. Obviously, that would be a major problem. For people who are allergic, this scenario is even more likely.

Three things-: Otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you normally take for a headache, suck on ice chips, and time. There is nothing else you can do. If your tongue is swollen, taking  benedryl may help as well.

Bee stings: I don't know which bee stings the worst. But i can tell you from personal experience that it is very important not to agitate a yellow jacket nest. Unlike most bees they are very aggressive when it comes to protecting their nest. Even foot steps near their nest can cause them to  swarm.  If you try to shoo it away or hit it w a fly swatter it will release a chemical that causes the other yellow &gt;&gt;.

It happens sometimes: For a bug bite, people often use OTC Claritin, Zyrtec, or diphenhydramine to block histamine, which causes itching. Putting hydrocortisone cream 2-3 times a day on the bite for 4-5 days will help. For more itch or pain relief, some people use an anti-itch gel such as Itch-X on the bite. Itch-X has anesthetic to numb the area. If the bite grows, oozes, or increasingly painful, a doctor can examine.

Options: Remove stinger by scraping along edge of skin with credit card. Clean area with soap ; warm water. Apply ice in 10 min. Increments; alternating 10 on ; 10 off. You can take tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling. Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply. Or you can apply a meat tenderizer poultice to the area. Throat, airway, mouth swelling? Call 911!

If you have this, you can use nsaids for the pain, in addition to other meds your doctor can prescribe for other inflmmatory symptoms, like itching.

Yes: Acutually that can occur. Try use of a NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication) to reduce your pain.
