Safe is relative : Drinking more than moderately increases risk of accidents, health problems, legal and social conflict, and emotional difficulty. So, alcohol in more than moderate amounts is not necessarily safe. Add Methylphenidate (immediate or extended release) and risks increase. Avoiding the combination of the two may help reduce risk but risk would still be present. You may wait  4-7 days at most.

Wait for what ?: Both Ritalin (methylphenidate) and alcohol do have an effect on your brain, but are not totally incompadible. The short acting ritalins (methylphenidate) are in and out of your system in 4-6 hours or less, while the timed release forms may linger for 8 or so. If you want  to avoid overlapping the drugs this should give you an idea.As long as you limit the alcohol to mild social consumption, i see no reason to worry about it.

Drug Levels: Nope. Absolutely not.  It is not gone for at least a day or two.  It is less effective or the blood levels are not therapeutic after six hours.  One should not be drinking alcohol while taking this medication.

Yes, but why?: If your child is already on a prescription medication where the dosage and actual medicine are well defined, why add a hodgepodge of substances that something like an "energy drink" is apt to contain?  If the effect isn't quite right, speak with the prescribing doctor about what needs to change and see if you can adjust the medicine to make it work better.

Adverse ; Withdraw: The adverse effects of each drug are also amplified when the two are used in combination. Regular side effects and withdrawal symptoms include abdominal pain, appetite loss, anxiety, blood pressure or pulse changes, dizziness, headaches, nausea, and even psychosis. These effects are far more pronounced when both medications are taken in high quantities. Overdose is likely to result in even greater.
