is it ok to take famotidine after drinking alcohol? i've been drinking pretty much 3 hours ago... can i take it right now or should i wait longer?

my pcp prescribed tinazidine 4mg to be taken as needed.  i took one 13 hours ago. before that last night at bedtime. before that is was several days. is it safe to have an alcoholic drink or do i need to wait longer?

: If you're referring to the muscle relaxer,tizanidine, the recommendation is to avoid alcohol for 3 days to avoid side effects of dizziness, low blood pressure,decreased alertness,,drowsiness

Alcohol: At 16 hours the drug should be metabolized and not having an effect. More important is the factor that you are not feeling any side effects from the medication if so then alcohol should not be an issue. If you are on regular usage of oxycodone you might want to consider giving up the alcohol as they do not work well together.

Healthy?  Then OK.: 16 hours is enough time to clear the drug, and interaction with alcohol should be minimal.  If you have any significant medical problems, especially liver or kidney disease, this might not be enough time.

That depends: On other factors as well.  Also are you presently on any other medications?   Is drinking = 1 beer or a six pack?   More information needed.  Hope this helps.

Zero minutes: there is no reason to not drink...go ahead and drink plenty of fluids! With respect to alcohol - would wait 24 hours as this is possibly the cause of your heartburn and upset stomach!

: To the best of my understanding, tea does not affect pharmacodynamics of famotidine, hence  you can take tea without timing it from Famotidine. However, you are taking Famotidine  for heartburn. You should avoid or cutback on intake of chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, smoking, fried and spicy food  as these are associated with the increased heartburn . Hope it helps.

I : I would recommend waiting for 2-3 months total.  Be sure you aren't taking tylenol (acetaminophen) which you probably already know.  If you had elevated liver function tests you should wait longer.  Only drink very small amounts 1-2 drinks until you are sure you can tolerate it.  As i don't know your blood laboratory studies, you should also check with your doctor to be sure you didn't have very elevated liver function tests.

No need to wait: Coffee, caffeine, and spicy foods are OK during a UTI. They won't interfere with treatment or improvement in your symptoms. If you find a particular food seems to cause pain or discomfort with urination, avoid it. But it probably won't happen.

Please wait until your infection is gone before you start drinking [booze can slow down your body's ability to fight off infection]. Even though alcohol and Azithromycin do not interact, it would be great to help, not hinder, your body's healing.
