Yes: Yes you can take pain medication with antibiotics .   Depending on the severity of the infection  and the susceptibility if the bacteria to the antibiotics you are taking ( some will not work at all j) it should take several days to feel a difference but you need to keep taking them as prescribed..    The pain you are experiencing can be managed with anti inflamitories  like motrin.

Resistance: The question is, why are you taking the antibiotic longer than prescribed?  If you continue to take the medication longer than normal, you increase the chance that you will become antibiotic resistant to that particular medication.  Therefore, a different, antibiotic may be necessary.  You want to avoid doing this, as it may ultimately decrease your body's ability to fight infection. Keep smiling.

It isn't possible to recommend any particular treatment without reevaluation in person. If you and he are sex partners, get treated yourself and no sex for the time being.

You can not handle: Go to an urgent care center or ER to be checked and treated if you can not get a hold of your doctor by phone. You may need tetanus shot , an x-ray, oral antibiotic, etc.

See below: If you have no apparent improvement within 3-5 days or if the area appears to be, worsening or other significant symptoms, get rechecked.  The antibiotic may not be covering a resistant species.

i caused a severe friction burn on my bfs penis and usually takes a week or so to heal. this time its taking longer to heal to the point i dont think its healing at all. is triple antibiotic good for treating it or should he see his doctor asap?

: I would not use triple antibiotic oinmnet on the penis. In general, it can cause allergic reactions. It Is only used for infections. See a doctor

thought i had a yeast infection & tried otcs for a month. saw doc & was diagnosed with bv. took antibiotic for seven days and symptoms cleared up internally. still have periods of external burning. does it take longer to heal or is it dermatological?

: Condition like BV symptom should resolve 
within a week or two after treatment. Continued symptoms may indicate another vaginitis or possible dermatologic condition. Recommend you see a dermatologist or OB/GYN for diagnosis or treatment.
