Everyone isdifferent: If you start the medication right at the first sign of an outbreak(tingling/burning/pain/feverish) you have a better chance of a quick clearing. Usual time frame for the blisters to turn into scabs and then the scabs to heal is 5-12 days.

Herpes: there is nothing wrong with taking a daily suppressive dose of  valtrex (valacyclovir) for prevention of viral shedding and recurrent outbreaks.

i'm taking azitomycin for chymidia at the same time can i take fluconazale if it's a yeast and i take daily valtrex (valacyclovir) for genital herpes so my question is rds three medication safe to take at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Azithromycin is a single dose for chlamydia. Fluconazole is a single dose for candida. You must have already taken a dose of each. I do not understand why you would ask this now.

It depends: Valtrex (valacyclovir) is to prevent outbreaks to protect you from them and your sex partner. You may still be infectious even when there are no symptoms of an outbreak yet. If you have been monogamous, the same sex partner, it may not be necessary to take it. Have them tested and discuss with your doctor. If you are abstinent, no, you don't need to take it, realizing you could have an outbreak.

i am hiv +, undetect, cd4 865, i also have genital herpes but take valtrex for it. i had a root canal done and developed sinus infect, bronchitis. taking 1 week now bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) clyndamicyn, poor recovery.

Please see your Dr.: You should be examined by your infectious disease doctor as soon as possible to see if something is going on with your immune system and possibly to repeat lab work for t cell counts.

Yes, if u take conti: Continuous Valtrex (valacyclovir) it should supress the transmission of the virus.

Yes: Genital herpes is a local disease and does not get in the blood system to affect your ability to donate blood.

No herpes: If the blood test is negative for HSV-1 and/ or HSV-2 IgG  and IgM, then there was no exposure to these types of herpes.

can you drink alcohol while taking valtrex (valacyclovir) for genital herpes?

Not wise,,,: Although there's no noted contraindication to doing this, it's generally not a good idea to drink alcohol with any drug, especially large amounts of alcohol that can affect the metabolism and concentration of that drug, and increase side effects.  Having said that, it's unlikely that a glass of wine or small amount of alcohol would be significant, unless it is a major contraindication for the drug
