: Ringworm can be spread by direct contact with the surface of the involved skin. Covering the location diminishes potential for transfer to others. Within days, use of an effective antifungal reduces potential to transfer. By three weeks if it is/was fungal any residual skin changes are likely due to the distortion of skin tone by the germ win no remaining active fungus.

Yes: I generally cover it out of extra caution, but after a day or two of topical therapy its ability to spread is reduced.

Not after 1 week: Treat with anti fungals cream such as Lamisil (terbinafine) for not less than 3-4 weeks, otherwise they will come back.

Treatment: is usually quite effective and you will not be contagious. You do not need to do daily laundry.

: There are some general feature of healing. When the surface texture is similar to the surrounding skin (no longer raised or rough) it is healing. Ring worm is not that contagious after the first says of proper treatment.

Watch closely: Most over the counter products - athlete's foot cream like Lotrimen - are reasonably effective for a single small body ringworm. But, as with any rash, if it doesn't respond to treatment over a period of a week consider having a medical professional look at it. It may be something other than a fungal (ringworm) infection.
