Stay home!: Good hand washing, not touching your face, staying home, and wearing a face mask when you do need to go out with others are the best recommendations currently. It is recommended that your children also stay home and communicate virtually with friends and family. Playing outdoors is fine, but only with immediate family living in your household.

i'm hsv-positive. how common is herpes infection to progress into serious complications like herpetic encephalitis? and what can i possibly do to ultimately avoid it (and also avoid recurrence outbreaks). so far i have no outbreak!!?

: Most herpes encephalitis occurs during initial HSV infection. If "HSV-positive" means blood test, you are at very low risk for encephalitis. For which type did you test positive? Encephalitis occurs only with HSV1. And possibly you don't have HSV at all. The blood tests are far from perfect, often with false positive or false negative results. Maybe post a new question with detailed test results.

Unusual: It is unusual for herpes to last this long. Either the diagnosis is wrong or there is severe immunodeficiency. Since you haven't said that you have any other illness, i would question the diagnosis.

: Your doc can treat both at the same time. There are oral meds you can take to suppress the herpes and there are insertable meds that can treat the yeast, please contact your doc and discuss your options.

hi, i've had  an ear infection for two weeks now.  i went to private owned pharmacy due to covid outbreak at clics. 1 time i was given aurone drops, advic cs. acc200 and airmune. symptos got worse, was given kortisone (1 x p day) and sinucol.  ?

See your Dr.: Middle ear infections are typically due to bacteria. See your Dr for a thorough exam, especially of the ear. The Dr will be able to see what is going on through the ear drum and be able to prescribe medication specific to the condition. Unfortunately, pharmacies cannot prescribe medications. All the meds you took so far were over the counter to control inflammation and or congestion.

Here are some ...: If the toilet you have used is just for you, it's absolutely no need to disinfect.... If using public toilets, it's optional because the toilet users after you have no chance to contact your out-breaking sites with their broken-very unlikely-skin. So, the likelihood to transmit herpes virus is almost next-to-none. Clinically, I don't believe there has been a study being done to address the answer.

HSV : Hsv type 1 is typically passed on by direct exposure to saliva and even droplets from breath. The precautions you took should have been sufficient to protect the newborn from the virus. I am very impressed by your thoughtfulness in this matter. You would be surprised at the number of individuals that do not take these precautions, your niece is lucky to have someone that cares so much for her well being. There is still a significant chance that she will contract it at some point in her life, it is most commonly transmitted in childhood. Regardless you are doing the responsible thing.

can you get hsv 2 on the top of your foot? i got an infection in my eye 6 months ago. not sure whether it was hsv-1 or 2 or shingles. now i have an outbreak on the top of my foot. also will it travel to my genitals? as of now its only on my foot?

Basics: An outbreak on your foot could be shingles which is herpes zoster, not HSV 1 or 2. You get HSV 1 or 2 on the genitals or in the orofacial (near the mouth).These germs are locality based and don't enter your blood to go to new sites.The shingles virus travels down a nerve root where it was hibernating after childhood chickenpox.
