i was taking linzess and it worked great, but, insurance will no longer cover the cost and it is expensive. is there a cheaper med that works similar?

Amitiza (lubiprostone): An equivalent medication would be amitiza (lubiprostone). Check with your doctor to see if it is right for you and if your insurance will cover it. Alternatively your doctor can ask for special authorization for you for linzess.

after being on daily to bid miralax, it was starting to not work.  had trouble with linzess & amitiza. can he just use suppository prn chronically?

Yes:  He can use suppository prn chronically. And try increase the dose of Miralax in half of previous dodge used. No real side effect of this. Best wishes.

You must: measure in terms of WEEKS not DAYS since you should be following a dietary intake consistent with your IBS type! Consult with your Gastroenterologist about what you should be eating. One thing I can advise...DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS!!!!!!!!!! and start NOW!

i have ibs constipation , i take lizness everyday its just loose stool. can i take deitary fiber with linzess will that work???

Dr may adjust dose: Linzess comes in capsules. They are slick and easy to swallow. One can learn to swallow pills by practicing with tiny candy sprinkles that bakers put on top of cupcakes. If a person is opening the capsules, she can use customized amounts such as a quarter or half or third of a capsule (depending on her doctor's instructions). The Linzess granules can be put on the tongue; then drink some water.

i have ibs-c and i take linzess i cant swallow pills so i put it in applesauce . why do i always have loose stool i thought linzess suppose to work? been taking it 3 months .

Excess dose: If your stools are loose you may need more fiber in your diet, or you may need to reduce the Med’s dose. Discuss this with your prescriber.

Psyllium: Soluble fiber such as  ispaghula, calcium polycarbophil, or Psyllium, which is found in Metamucil, have been shown to reduce universal symptoms in IBS. Metamucil does contain other added ingredients, so it may be best to take psyllium in a more natural form. (available at a natural food store) Oats/oat bran may be effective for those with IBS-C. Psyllium does not interfere with Linzess.

: It is difficult to say. People respond to medication differently. You can give it a try if you suffer severe constipation which failed the common treatment methods.

Start with one: The starting dose is one tablet, but there is also a dose of 290, (which obviously is equal to two of the 145 mg tabs).  Either dose can be effective, depending on the patient

Few months: Only out for several months but seems to be very effective for irritable bowel with constipation as primary symptom..Tested for a long time as per fda prior to its release.
