No: But if it was prescribed for psychotic features or symptoms, return of those symptoms could be a reason for hearing voices.  Please discuss this with your treating doctor ASAP.

If we only knew,: That is one of the most important questions in addiction medicine--how long until i feel good again?  I think that if we knew the answer to this question for everyone, drug addiction would be much easier to treat-- simply because you would know exactly how long you will feel withdraw. It's the not-knowing that makes it so hard b/c you don't know when the end is.  Makes it much harder!

will the number of dopamine receptors from antipsychotic usage and its withdrawal lower over time? i think all this extra dopamine is giving insomnia

Down regulation: In theory, the use of any receptor-driven chemical stimulus over time will result in reduction, or down-regulation of those receptors, especially if the dose is increased.

im very sensitive to all meds, on cabergoline for elevated prolactin, in
range now, im afraid i will have withdrawl from dopamine increase.

Stay on cabergoline: Why were you on Cabergoline in the first place. If you stay on an appropriate dose, you should be fine. Check with the prescribing doctor.

Neurologists: Neurologists often have experience with this disorder.  It is often helpful to use a small amount of levodopa/carbidopa to protect against the withdrawal for 1-2 weeks, like 100/25 mg three times a day.  Hope  that helps!

i am on day six of opiate withdrawal. i was on 30 mg of hydrocodone per day. i am still sweating and freezing at night. how much longer will this last?

Opiate withdrawal: Day six congratulations! The mental part will be the worst for you: sadness, depression, craving and anxiety.  It can take some time before everything returns to normal, but everyone is different. Try getting an extra support form the AA meetings or from your doctor. Take care.

i have complete anhedonia from stimulant abuse, i'm a year clean, i just started taking effexor, (venlafaxine) will it help restore my dopamine levels?

Sometimes.: Sometimes wellbutrin or effexor (venlafaxine) can help restore sex drive along  with  time off amphetamines

i have been prescribed vyvanse and adderal to treat my adhd for the past six years. i am concerned that my dopamine & norepinephrine levels will not be restored when i get off my rx. should i be worried about permanent collateral damage to my brain?

Worried: You are already worried and it is imperative that you discuss this with the doctor who is controlling your medicines.

This is one issue: That should be handled with in-person treatment by an addiction specialist or another physician who has expertise in addictions.  Obtaining tips from an unknown on-line physician would not be the way to go.

Opiate withdrawal : The common symptoms are anxiety and restlessness.  You can and often will develop a runny nose, watery eyes, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  These are some of the most common symptoms.  You can also look up the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) which will help you determine the degree of withdrawal you are in.  I hope this helps
