It is not uncommon to have a lingering cough, I've seen it last as long as 6 to 8 weeks.  However, if you have fever, trouble breathing, colored/increased/thickened sputum with the cough, you should see a doctor to rule out pneumonia.

Possible Bronchitis: It is difficult to say without examination.But it is more likely you are having Bronchitis as you are wheezing
And it seems like a viral infection causing your Bronchitis.
I advice you drink plenty fluids and consult your Doctor,get checked and treated appropriately.Do not smoke or be around some one who smokes
It can also turn into Pneumonia sometimes

i get 'common cold' symptoms for a day after i swim in a pool the last 4-5 times. sore throat, sinus, sneezing. could it be a chlorine allergy?

No but: Chlorine can irritate your nose and trigger asthma for those who have the condition.  It is not an allergy however. I suspect that you may have a hay fever issue which is worsened by the chlorine exposure.

Common cold: To avoid getting an upper respiratory infection practice excellent hand washing. Wash hands frequently &amp; thoroughly with warm water and soap. Do not touch mouth, eyes or hands unless hands are clean. Avoid contact with people who have upper respiratory infections. Cover coughs. Tips: Sore throat – gargle with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 8 oz of water). Get strep test/culture if very sore. &gt;

Cough asthma inhaler: Wheezing may indicate that you have asthma. An inhaler such as albuterol may be prescribed by your doctor. For nasal congestion, nasal rinses and clearing the nasal passages helps to reduce post nasal drip and cough. I hope this helps.

Get rechecked: You may have exercise induced bronchospasm that would not get better with those type of medicines.  Get rechecked and ask about bronchodilators to use before exercise.
