Many months: There is widespread agreement that it takes many months for vit a to leave the body but little specific info on how long. One website says the half-life is 6 months, meaning it takes 6 mos. For half of it to leave your body, but it does not cite a reference, and i could not find detailed info elsewhere, so the exact answer is a bit of a mystery.

They're OK, but...: No food or vitamin is particularly healthy by itself. Eat a balanced diet with lots of plants and not too much red meat. Beyond that, maybe a multivitamin, but there's no proved health benefit from extra amounts of any vitamin or nutrient. And yes, carotenoids (vitamin A and related compounds) can accumulate in the body, turning skin and eyes yellow-orange. ("Carotenoid" comes from "carrot".)

The acute toxic dose of Vitamin A for an average adult is &gt;660,000 units of Vitamin A, which would be 600 capsules of cod liver oil. Acute toxicity of Vitamin D in adults is generally a non-issue as it would take a massive overdose to cause acute symptoms.

Scar Treatment: Vitamins a, c, and e do help the skin but topical kelocote and Mederma are more effective.  The most effective therapy for scars is the laser.

One can take: that much at one time .... if one is deficient and under a doctor's care.  The regimen for those known to be vitamin A deficient can be 100,000 IU by mouth or injection for 3 days, followed by 50,000 IU daily for two weeks. But 70,000 units should not be a daily dose. Liver: I don't think what you're doing is unreasonable and I wouldn't worry about vitamin A toxicity. Be aware that too much organ meat ( like liver, kidney,sweetbread) ingestion is unhealthy because of high cholesterol content.
