Depends.: This year I have seen a number of patients with cough for three weeks and more.  There is no need to stay in bed. Get up and get things moving.  Eat well and drink plenty of fluids. Take meds for symptomatic relief. Report to your doc if things don't seem right or if you develop serious signs or symptoms.

depends: Is is usually takes from few days to couple of weeks , but is depend on your immune status and the infection is from viral or bacteria.

Acute bronchitis: You need inhalers and steroids and may be antibiotics. None of these is available otc. Go see your doc.

Bronchitis blues: Depending on the germ that caused the bronchitis and you, the patient, symptoms of something like that can vary. Not sure if your doc 'nailed' the etiology of the cough -if it was pertussis, then that cough can last for weeks. Conversely, if you have 'reactive airways'--something like asthma or sensitivity in the breathing tubes, you could cough for a while as well. Call ur doc if not better soon.

how long for advair 250/50 to get rid of remaining dry, hacky cough from bronchitis? dry, persistent cough is the only remaining symptom. anything else i should take or use to help get rid of this dry cough?

: Do you have any wheezing?  If so, you may need a bronchodilator inhaler that you'd use four times a day. Also a course of oral corticosteroids could help. If no wheezing but a persistent dry,hacking cough, take a cough suppressant syrup like robitussinDM or one containing codeine which would give your tracheal irritation causing the hacking cough a chance to heal. Discuss with your MD.

: Why does he have chronic bronchitis may be more important to explore. Does he smoke or hang around people that smoke or does it work around much dust? Eliminating the dust or cause may be important, and there are medications/inhalers available to help if he has shortness of breadth. You could look to see a doctor sooner and good fluid intake is better for easier expectoration.

Depends: Bronchitis just mean inflamation of the bronchioles. We treat depending on what is causing it. See doctor.

Not a good choice: In most cases, antibiotics, which treat bacterial diseases, are not recommended for bronchitis, which is usually a viral infection.  In the rare case where i treat bronchitis with an antibiotic, i would not use clindamycin.
