It  varies: Some men make the change immediately others find that they may have enhanced glans sensation which may be uncomfortable and others might feel a bit numb. Studies have suggested that with time there is very little difference in sexual function following an adult circumcision. But there are always exceptions to the rule.

i am considering adult male circumcision but have hsv-ii. i take valtrex 500mg/day and no outbreaks in 5 years. should i be concerned that the surgery could create a severe outbreak even with valtrex and avoid the procedure altogether?

: If indeed you have HSV2, this is a reasonable request, since local trauma can trigger HSV outbreaks. Your current dose of valacyclovir should be very effective, but might increase protection (and would not be harmful in any way) to take a larger dose of valacyclovir, such as 1 gram twice daily for 3-4 days starting the day before circumcision. For what reason?: With any elective surgical procedure, you need a clear reason for doing it. Circumcision, like any surgical procedure, must not be undertaken lightly. Indeed, the urologist is likely going to ask similar questions before agreeing to perform the procedure. In terms of sexual experience, i don't see it having much impact on that.

good day, i am having trouble with infections around the for skin and was wondering if adult circumsition would be a solution, as i take great care in hygiene in the area and still infections accur frequently.

Can see urologist: Decisions may also depend on whether the foreskin is tight or goes back and forth easily (it should normally go back and forth easily). A person who is planning to get a circumcision can get another opinion to see what else can be done besides cutting off all the foreskin. As the old saying goes, "There's more than one way to skin a cat."

A week: Usually after a week the circumcision is healed. The skin will still look red, but the scab is usually gone at that point. Many times it will heal quicker than that.

There are a variety of techniques that might cause you to have a preference, but they should all be well healed in a few weeks in a healthy young adult. Ask your doctor or local hospital for a referral or search the web yourself. Then interview the provider until you are satisfied. Best!

About a week: Most circumcisions will heal in about a week, depending on the method used. Those done with a plastabell  often take a few days longer.
