Short time: Most of the swelling is down within a week or two after a chin implant.  There may be a small amount of swelling which persists longer, especially under the chin.  90% of the patients look pretty good within a week!

Chin implant: Yes, you can expect to have swelling of the chin and numbness of the skin of the chin and lower lip for a variable period of time after surgery to place a chin implant. Was it done inside the mouth or outside, under the chin? The swelling should be mostly gone after 2-3 weeks, while the numbness may last several months but should resolve completely in time.

Chin implant: I have not generally seen lumps under the chin following placement of a chin implant. However, most symptoms resolve by six weeks. If it's been more than that, there could be a problem. You should return to see your surgeon and let him or her determine if it's normal or abnormal.

3 weeks: You will have swelling and bruising for about 3-4 weeks. Thereafter swelling will continue to reduce at a much slower rate.

Somewhat: After any surgery on the chin, there will be some numbness, especially when it is swollen.  However, there are some nerves for sensation in the area where surgery is done to place the chin implant;  it is possible for those nerves to get injured in the surgery, so if one side of the lip is more numb than the other, that's the cause.  Usually with time it gets better.  Discuss with your doctor.

A little: Compared to some other procedures, most patients don't complain about chin implants.  A chin implant does involve surgery (unless you have a filler injected to cause chin protrusion), so you will experience some discomfort, maybe even pain.

Same thing usually: Any operation on the chin to change its shape is called a genioplasty from the latin word for "chin."  sometimes an implant is used to change the appearance and other times the bone is cut and reshaped without an implant.  So a chin implant is always a genioplasty but not the other way around.
