Same as second-time: and subsequent, just more powerful.  Heroin is not unique, and other opioids that are well-absorbed and rapidly pass the blood/brain barrier produce pretty much identical effects. There is a tremendous euphoria or "rush" followed by sedation. If the dose is too high, esp in a opioid-naive individual, oversedation with respiratory depression can occur. There is a strong desire to repeat experience.

Relpase: I encourage you to get more support than medication in order to get into health and recovery.  Your doc can comment on the use of meds; I won't. Please continue to see him/her.  Please consider inpatient treatment, a 12 step program w/regular meetings, a sponsor, whatever it takes.  Please make freedom from this your present goal.  The very best to you. It depends: First, you have to be completely honest with yourself about your use of Xanax (alprazolam).  Was it prescribed by a doctor that knows your history?  Are you taking it as directed?  Are you working towards weaning off?  If no to any of these questions, your medication use is suspect.  Talking may be more helpful in this instance.

Not very long ...: It is very easy to become physically and psychologically dependent on heroin. The chemicals that are most likely to cause addiction are those that reach the brain quickly, greatly stimulate the "pleasure center", and then leave relatively quickly. No clue: but I wish you were more concerned with dealing with your addictions than blocking withdrawal symptoms. I have treated MANY people who used both heroin and methamphetamine, and none of them said that amphetamine did anything beneficial for their withdrawal, so it may be just your particular biology. Most use speed to stay awake for the heroin high, or use heroin to take the edge off the speed.

Varies: Im not a neuroscientist but the effects of drugs on the brain would depend on many variables, including baseline function, length of time and extent of exposure and other exposures.

Usually : Read by radiologist the same day.  Your doctor or doctors associate can call with results as soon as they are back.  Should be back 48-72 hours after having the test done.    Unless Friday.   May take an extra day or two.   If they do not call you.  Call office for results
