on bystolic (nebivolol) 10 mg for blood press. works great for about 12 hours then b/p shoots up. is their an extended release? can i take it twice?

Check with doctor: Don't change your medication unless your provider reviews and approves. There are medication "cousins" of bystolic (nebivolol) that are extended release.  At age 18, why you have high blood pressure should be looked at closely and what happens at the end of the 12 hours to have it jump.  What is your lifestyle? ..Weight, nutrition, salt intake and more...

ACEI.ARB agents plus Coreg have always had better outcomes (also less expensive) than just Bystolic (never had as good outcomes). Bystolic (nebivolol): Also called nebivolol, is a beta blocker  used to treat hypertension.  5 mg is a low dose and it is safe to stop if your doctor advised so.  Whenever your physician orders tests or makes changes in medications be sure to ask "why?".  Your doctor will be happy to explain his or her rationale. :)

i take 2.5 mg bystolic and 100 mg l-theanine, with no issues. would 200 mg be too much?

GRAS up to 250 mg: 1st, L-Theanine (a glutamine derivative found in tea &amp; fungi) is classified as GRAS- Generally Regarded As Safe- by the FDA. Doses up to 1200 mg have shown little, if any positive OR negative effect. In fact, there is no clear proof that L-Theanine has any health benefits, &amp; some negative data that it does nothing to improve mood. Proteins rarely interact with drugs. You may be wasting your money!

why does bystolic say not to take if you get skipped beats?

Bystolic=BetaBlocker: Beta Blockers bind to beta receptors (receptors for adrenaline &amp; noradrenaline), at end organ level, without stimulating them. Thus reduce end organ responses to the stimulating neurotransmitters released from nerve endings from brain to end organ. They do not affect parasympathetic acetycholine receptors typically signaling opposite response. Concern=about possibly ↑ing skipping/↓ing heart rate.

Should be reduced: slowly ( tapered down ) to 2.5 mg ( 1/2 tab) for 1 week then 1/2 tab every other day, until done. Rapid discontinuation of a beta blocker like Bystolic (nebivolol) can cause rebound hypertension. Not sure of the logic since Bystolic (nebivolol) is an excellent medication unless you are having side effects.
