Trust pelvic US: Every woman differs, but usually 6-8 weeks. You might want to temporarily ease off sexual activity until you are pain free. If pain worsens or fever, seek medical attention. Doubt it has connection to appendix even though pain is in same general area. Good luck, heal soon.

One week to 10 days: The fluid in the spontaneously ruptured ovarian cyst has to be absorbed by the peritoneum( inside lining of the body cavity) and until it does, the fluid will serve as an irritant and therefore- pain.

Need GYN follow up: You need to see a GYN MD in their office for follow up care to be certain that the ovarian cyst is completely gone. An ultrasound exam will help along with the pelvic exam. Those studies will determine the answer to your question of how long, etc. The MD can also provide Rx for the pain if necessary.

i had an ovarian cyst rupture on the 6th of this month. the er dr said the healing process would take up to a week. its now been two weeks and sex is extremely painful for me. it wasnt painful like this before the cyst ruptured. what could be wrong?

Could be scarring: knowing what type of cyst is very critical to predict future symptoms.
what they told you is only true if it was clear cyst.
but if it contained blood it could cause scarring and take long time to heal like 3-4 months.
if it is endometriosis this could spread disease and will need surgery to resolve it
follow up ultrasounds is important and possible diagnostic laparoscopy is recommended if no rest

Risk:once you have one, likely for others.No correlation with direct infertility, tx: bcp can help prevent cyst formation, tx depends on severity.
