Get it checked: If it is a sebaceous cyst or a lipoma, if you want it gone, then you have to have it removed surgically.  Depending on where it is and how big it is, often it can just be done in the doctor's office.  You need to have it checked by a doc to know for sure that it is benign (not cancer) and to tell you what you need to do to get rid of it.

See below: These cysts are easily taken care of in most cases by a minor procedure called and incision and drainage. The cyst is numbed with a local anesthetic and then a small cut is made with a scalpel to drain the cyst. Usually there is a capsule to the cyst which is pulled out through the small opening. It is a simple procedure that most doctor knows how to do and do in the office.  Surgery sometimes.

i just found out i have a brochial cleft cyst on my neck and i was wondering, does every case need surgery for removal or can it just go away?

Depends: They are congenital ( you are born with ) , smaller malformation will not give  any trouble , most of the time they drain out give infections to the sinus tract  and have very  low incidence of malignant transformation  Speak to your doctor. Removal is low risk surgical procedure .

Parotid gland cyst: Parotid gland cyst can be excised by meticulous surgery without causing damage to the gland. Your surgeon can tell you based on the size and if there are any contraindications for the surgery.

i had a neck ct scan an it showed that i now have numerous thyroid nodules and a cyst. since i'm having compressive symtoms do i need to have surgery?

Probably: The tyroid gland sits right on top of the larynx, trachea.  As it enlarges due to the formation  of multiple nodues, if they are not large and no compressive symptoms occur, one treats conservatively, possibly using hormone replacement if needed.  If too large some form of cytoreduction may be needed.

Vocal nodules?: Sometimes people develop small nodules on their vocal cords that need to be removed.  Also, there can be other types of cysts and lesions in the throat.  Sometimes resting the voice, ie avoiding shouting and screaming, can help prevent these.  Good luck!

Indication 4 surgery: Thyroid nodules are very common. Under 1 cm, they are usually observed, meaning a repeat Ultrasound in one year. A FNA can be helpful. Okay to ask about medication and observation. If larger than 2.5 cm or blocking your airway, surgery to remove the affected lobe is indicated. Take a friend with you to appointment. If FNA is done, ask for confirmation it was sampled. Be well.

Follow advise of MD: You have symptoms , your doctor advised you the surgery. It is a benign disease and the it and  is low risk non complex procedure. UK has excellent highly trained surgeons , if you are afraid take a second opinion  .
