i eat about 7 pounds of ice a week. is this unhealthy?  i did have a problem with anemia but last blood test was normal. i've had the cravings 2 years

Maybe: People who eat ice, or starch or in some areas clay often have an iron deficiency problem.  Though you said you had anemia which was now proved normal--you may still have a degree of iron deficiency, which can only be evaluated with specific blood tests--serum iron,  per cent iron saturation and ferritin. If you have menstrual periods, you loose iron every month.  Are you on vitamins with iron?

This : This could be consistent with sundowning syndrome, where patients become more confused at night.  Her age is not clear to me from the question.  There are things that can help sundowning such as only having caffeine in the morning, having a small meal at night, and being sure the patient has something familiar around her.  But your sister needs a complete neurological evaluation to be sure of her diagnosis and to be sure there isn't another cause of her symptoms.

In general, memory problems can occur from alcohol abuse, mood disorders, psychosis, stress and anxiety, psychological trauma, head injuries and dementia. However, at your age, you may simply have too much to think about and this may cause problems with "working memory".

Anemia: Anemia is usually easy to fix. For the most common type, iron deficiency, you just take an iron supplement. Other types are alcohol (folate (folic acid) deficiency), vitamin b deficiency, and chronic kidney disease, and certain generic conditions (g6pd deficiency). But if you are having weight loss, that is a separate problem that needs evaluation. Anemia can result from weight loss, but doesn't cause it.

Nonspecific : Acute only means recent in onset. It does not provide a clue as to the origin--bleeding, critical illness, oncologic problem, nutritional deficiency or other. Anemia is a low red cell count. You need more information and recent testing from your Dr.

Cocaine: If you are being checked for anemia and they will not test for cocaine. However, your anemia may be due to Cocaine use. If the ordering MD has asked for cocaine levels then they will test. Here is a bit of advice - if you want to enjoy your life and live well and long do not use cocaine.

No: I hope someone is working up your very low hb level which is not normal needs an extensive workup  and a low hb is associated with heavy , not light bleeding, there can be many causes for a low hb, u need to see your regular doc, a gyn and maybe a hematologist.
