: Please patient and wait for the biopsy report. The bleeding is likely due to uterine fibroids and you may need treatment such as embolization or myomectomy of the big ones or even hysterectomy. In some cases, the fibroids will shrink and bleeding stops in the menopause.

Quickly enough: The key is that there must be no delay in definitive treatment. Both grade -- how aggressive the pathologist says the tumor looks -- and stage -- how far it has already spread to the best of our knowledge -- are important. By definition, a stage 3 EC has already spread outside of the uterus and may involve the membrane lining (serosa), the vagina, the tissue adjacent to the uterus (adnexa) and may include the ovaries and the tissue that separates the upper portion of the cervix from the bladder (parametrium).

Yes but: It could possibly spread to local lymph node but the chances are very low. The lymph nodes that are in thoracic cavity are even less likely to contain metastatic tumor from a stage 1a endometrial cancer, especially if it's a garden variety low grade lesion. In fact, long term survival is very good, like 95%. The other 5% may represent very high grade tumors.

Not from recurrence: depending on the extent of endometrial invasion of the wall of the uterus, at 2 years if there is no evidence of recurrence in pelvis or distal spread on CAT, the vaginal bleeding probably unrelated.
On pelvic if a lesion of vagina seen, then bx should be performed.  This is rare following a good hysterectomy for endometrial disease, but can occur from squamous Ca of vagina or other lesion.

Depends on Rx: It depends on the treatment program that she is given. Endometrial cancer is easily survivable if caught before it leaves the uterus as progesterone or surgery can reverse early Stage I. Your grandmother is beyond that point and her Oncologists will be offering her various treatment options which of course affect survival rates.

Don't assume: Don't assume , instead i recommend you to ask your doctor regarding your stage and treatment plan. It can spread directly, through lymphatic organ, and via blood.
