Not unusual: The germs that triggered the infection can be long dead, but it can take a few weeks for your system to fully recover. As long as things get better day to day &amp; you are not losing ground you can give it some time. If you lose ground or develop new fever you need to re-visit the doc.

i had bronchopneumonia last week. finished my course of meds on monday but am still very clogged with sinus and still a little chest pain on my upper left. what should i do?

Respiratory symptoms: Chest pain may persist with improving respiratory symptoms. You can still have inflammation of airways and some chest pain while you recover.  You may want to try a flonase inhaler for the sinus congestion. Also continue lots of fluids, lemon water, and frequent nasal saline flushes.

Probably viral: What is her age? If she has no underlying condition (cf, bpd, asthma, immunodeficiency), then she is probably recovering from a viral pneumonia.  This can take quite a while. Stay in touch with her pediatrician for follow up.  Low energy and sweats could be residual convalescent symptoms.

Heart/lung disease: Difficulty of breathing means the body wants to make up for diminished oxygenation from poor transport of oxygen from alveolar air to pulmonary capillary bed. This maybe due to congestion in the lung or bronchial spasm. Lung congestion may mean heart failure thus more water in the lung. Bronchial spasm maybe due to infection or bronchitis or emphysema. See an md sooner than later.

Yes.: Whether it's bronchopneumonia or bronchiolitis or whooping cough, a 4 week old has a very naive immune system and can get very sick very quickly. Close follow-up and aggressive treatment may be necessary.
