As a general rule: These types of injuries take a minimum of 8-12 weeks to heal. Why you aren't going to require surgery I'm not sure, the avulsion must not be complete, or the ACL would be detached if I understand your question correctly. If your ACL is detached, surgery is usually (if not always) necessary. To rehab your knee you will need physical therapy. Expect 6 months or longer to get back to 100%. Best 2you!

It really varies.: Recovery from ACL tears vary greatly depending on the severity of tear, if it was surgically repaired or managed with physical therapy etc. Recovery can be as short as a few weeks but can also be months as each case is unique. Exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee are important for recovery and prevention of future injury. Results are promising with patience and a good rehab program.

Reconstruction: An acl tear is not able to repair itself because the body seals off both ends of the tear. In some cases, the torn acl can scar into and heal to surrounding structures, but the function is never the same. A reconstruction involves creating tunnels in the original acl position, and placing a substitute graft into the tunnels, and fixing it in place.

You can't: All you can do is strengthen the muscles supporting the knee but it will never replace the function of the ACL and your knee will suffer.
