over the last couple months, my skin itches and when scratched it swells and leaves bumps, almost like an allergic reaction what can be causing this?

skin on hands, face, stomach is swallen in a few places, raised, almost appears like allergic reaction, heaves, rush like, dry to touch. lasts for weeks, gets better and then worse again. only in 3-4 places. what could cause this?

Allergic reaction: You may be experiencing an allergic reaction. Take an antihistamine for the next two weeks, daily. Avoid exposure to plant oils, fragrance and harsh soap.
Use a baby eczema lotion and caladryl lotion to affected areas a few times per day.

Hives: It sounds as if you are having a dermatologic condition called urticaria.  Urticaria is the medical terminology for hives.  It is the bodies response to a certain stimulus, such as an allergy.  The body will release histamine in response to a stimulus and histamine causes redness, swelling, burning sensation and itching.  Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can help relieve symptoms.

Depends: Hives or urticaria can occur within minutes on skin contact or ingestion of a food allergen, while contact dermatitis from poison ivy or nickel may take 48 hours.

Moisturizer: I assume you received medical care for your reaction and are now dealing with the consequences of stretched skin. Usually the skin regains its normal shape within days, but if it is cracking and peeling, use a moisturizer daily to soothe it.

: Yes send pictures.  Find out the cause and treat that. Keep a good diary of your rash and exposures.  Your body is talking to you. Take good notes and you and your Drs can figure out what is causing it.  Good Luck.

Have it evaluated: You may benefit with a topical antihistamine cream.  Consult you doctor and get their advice.

May be allergy: could be an allergic reaction to any of your cosmetics, try to sort out which one is causing such symptoms and avoid using it, when using a new cosmetic, try it first on a small area behind your ear and wait for two days at least to see if any redness or itching, if not, start using it, good luck

i had a penicillin allergic reaction about 3 weeks ago and i feel like my skin has become a lot more sensitive. is that normal?

May be normal: Depending on what kind of reaction to penicillin you had, 3 weeks out from a reaction, it may be reasonable for your skin to still feel more sensitive. Usually this occurs in patients with delayed type reaction to penicillin. If you still feel that you are having symptoms you should see the doctor that diagnosed your penicillin allergy. You may need medications to help calm your skin.

my get skin gets red easily and briefly after scratching. is this normal? i also had allergic reaction recently from a med, maybe still in system?

There is a condition: called dermatographism, where when you scratch your skin it will cause red inflammed reaction where you scratched the skin. There is no treatment but antihistamines can help. Drug rashes can persist up to one month after you stop taking the medication in most cases, but it doesn't sound like that.
