2 years ago the grinding in my shoulder started everytime i move it, it pops and grinds never had pain or swelling until last month i started having sharp pains going to my neck still no swelling thought it was pinched nerve why is this happening?

Degeneration: Shoulder grinding suggest excess wear and tear has allowed the ball and socket to rub with movement, hence, grinding. Your neck pain may or may not be related to the shoulder and deserves a clinical exam; however, I suspect a degenerative process there as well. Good luck

have two pinched nerve in neck, vicodin is no longer helping. what should i do? i am scheduled for a cervical epidural in a month.

Timing : Vicodin's ineffectiveness may be due to  worsening of your condition, but more likely due to tolerance to opiates. There is a  sense of urgency with the latter possibility and  the epidural will ideally be performed sooner than a month.

Neck, arm pain: This question is not appropriate as it is patient specific. Having stated that, yes cervical nerves do travel to the neck and upper extremity and can get "pinched".  There can be many other causes of sharp pain, some of which need looking into. The exact distribution of pain is very important to direct further diagnostic tests such as MRI.

last september i went to the er for numbness in left arm. they said i either have a pinched nerve or herniated disc in my cervical spine. when i turn my head i can feel the pain radiate down my arm. can feel pain when i do neck exercises. x-ray asap?

: There is no urgency but you should have a MRI done sooner or later. Pain and numbness of the arm are common symptoms of cervical herniated disc or cervical spondylosis. If possible, you should see a spine orthopedist or a neurosurgeon. Neck exercise is still recommended.

Suggest: Have your doctor check it out, as you may have a discogenic compression affecting a nerve rootlet in your spinal area, and the arm pain is a referred symptom.  If so, physical therapy using motorized cervical traction could be very helpful.

It depends: It seems you have Cervical radiculopathy diagnosed by MRI. And you were given Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack, Physical Therapy and possibly a NSAID/Pain medicine. These are good conservative approach.If you continue having  progressive symptoms affecting strength of your upper Extremities tour Orthopedic surgeon will discuss with you different pressure relieving surgical procedure

Not medication: The best treatments are always those that get at the root cause of the problem.  The nerve needs to get "un-pinched."  often physical therapy or traction will help but sometimes surgery is needed.
