i was diagnosed with lupus age 22. i am now 62. over the last year ive developed internal tremors. it is happening more frequently and each episode is lasting longer. does this necessarily have to fall under the diagnosis or pd, ms, or et?

trying to conceive due to lupus my last pregnancy my lupus flared up, is it most likely to flare up again or most like this pregnancy will be differe?

SLE and pregnancy: Hi Brenda: The prognosis for mother + child is best when SLE has been quiescent for 6 months prior to conception. There is a risk that the second pregnancy could also result in SLE flare. A multidisciplinary approach with close medical, obstetric, and neonatal monitoring is necessary. The good news is that most pregnancies in pt's SLE have good outcomes with modern care. Best of Luck!

have systemic lupus.controlled on plaquenil, no organ involvement. any time i get a virus, i flare &get very ill every time i get a virus & take a longer time to recover.i'm concerned if i would get covid. is it reasonable to work from home?

Systemic lupus: If you have systemic lupus and on medications then you have depressed immunity and are at higher risk for infections. Would advise to work from home and follow all the precautions for covid-19.

i have lupus & get really dizzy(not vertigo) & confused during every flare.i still get dizzy a lot & it lasts weeks.neuro & rheummd don't know cause.

SLE : Confusion and dizziness are common symptoms with many causes.  When they occur during every lupus flair the SLE is the most likely cause.  These symptoms can also be caused by steroids used to treat SLE flairs as well as other medications.  You did not say how often your flairs occur or how long they last.  You may want to discuss options to prevent these flairs with your rheumatologist.

SLE : Lupus can cause dizziness by different mechanisms. Dizziness in lupus may be related to vasculitis, anti phospholipid anti bodies with clots, anti bodies to component of inner ears called immune mediated inner ear disease . Other disorders that cause dizziness may coexist with lupus . Keeping lupus under control and identifying the cause of dizziness and treatment of the cause would help reduce.

You and doctor: Stress reduction, a healthy diet, routine exercise, and avoidance of excess sun exposure all help to reduce lupus symptoms and flares. If you smoke, you must stop as it is deadly especially in lupus. Speak to your doctor about which medications to avoid. Also ask if you should be on Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) which has very few risks but offers significant protection.

Call your rheum: Without knowing whether or you have kidney involvement and what type of flare you having, it is best for you to let your rheumatologist know so that they can evaluate you.

why can the sun trigger a lupus flare? can fluorescent lighting have the same effect?

Ultraviolet levels: Ultraviolet light activates the photosensitive rash in sle.  For many with sle the overall disease becomes more active.  Ultraviolet light increases disease activity for some but not all with the disease.
