Awhile: If it is really a from syphilis, it will go away  and come back again.
It is easily treated with antibiotics.
Just because it goes away, doesn't mean it is gone.
It must be treated!

Sounds like it: But it could be from other causes.  Why don't you take her to her dentist just to be sure.

Canker sore: Canker sores heal spontaneously in 7-10 days. Return to your dentist, or see an oral surgeon, and have it reevaluated. Any sore that does not heal in 10 days needs to be examined, and possibly biopsied.

Call GYN again: Need to check for STD(genital warts?) or an autoimmune disorder especially if you suffer from swollen and painful joints.  If you can't get an answer from your current GYN, get a 2nd opinion.

Sore on lip: Any sore that lasts longer than 7-10 days, or any sore that re-occurs should be examined and probably biopsied .
See your dentist or an oral surgeon.

one month ago i developed an extremely painful canker sore on my tongue.  pain lasted one week.  been feeling totally normal since, however theres still a white spot present, albeit smaller. is it a scar?  or will it eventually disappear? thanks

Can't tell: Without a physical examination it is impossible to answer your question. 2 thoughts: 1) What you are looking at may be just that, scar tissue, and 2) however the rule of thumb is that any lesion lasting more than 14 days from onset must be evaluated. Please see your General Dentist, a specialist in Oral Pathology or Oral Medicine, or a specialist Oral Surgeon now.

Apthous ulcer?: &quot;canker sores&quot; which are usually apthous ulcerations in the mouth (or cold sores on the lips) are caused by a virus (the hsv-1), which can be exacerbated when on antibiotics that decrease even normal bacterial &#x27;flora&#x27; which usually balance out the viruses.  So,  after a tooth extraction surgery, the stress as well as the antibiotics introduced into your oral cavity, could increase the hsv-1.
