Years: Scars do shrink with time. If you have acne scars they will improve in time but most likely will have areas of depression that are permanent.
There are laser procedures , chemical peels and dermabrasion as well as dermapen that can help and are not very expensive

I'm sorry your acne was neglected in the first place leaving you with scars. Several hollywood leads kept their for the "tough guy" look. It's your choice.

Depends...: ..On depth of scar.  Many times, pimples won't scar.  In more severe cases, the scar can be deep enough to exist forever.  Also depends on area of body.  Chest heals differently than face.
