It may: Your periods will likely return to normal when you off clomid (clomiphene). If you are 41, your fertility window is becoming very narrow, it may be a good idea to make sure you are seeing a fertility specialist.

Not true.: Some IVF doctors are still use Clomiphene challenge test (CCT) to screen patients. I don't think it is very reliable test. I have helped many patients who previously failed CCT test but done IVF successfully. The key is you have to use mild stimulation to produce optimal number of follicles. Banking the embryos for PGS, I do believe that you still have good chance to have your biological child.

will a doctor consider prescribing clomid after coming off of depo-provera provera (medroxyprogesterone) 9 months ago and i am not ovulating? or will they want me to wait longer?

Worth considering: While the Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot should have worn off by now, it is still possible that your cycle irregularity and an ovulation is related to the Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot.  First, i would make sure that you are not pregnant now, and also ask you doctor about testing for thyroid and prolactin levels.  You may then need Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce a period and Clomid to induce ovulation.

See your doctor : You may need a higher dose of clomid (clomiphene).  It might also be helpful to monitor your ovulation with home prediction tests.

i have pcos and don't seem to conceive. i've been on progesterone and clomid recently and they said my follicles are still the same but one is bigger so get into action basically. how can i increase the chance of pregnancy? lie down longer? anything?

: "Progesterone and clomid" may induce ovulation, which may be detected by an ovulation test (obtained at a local pharmacy), but with PCOS, get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for additional testing ( hysterosalpingogram: HSG) and guidance if pregnancy does not occur, as tubal patency may need to be ascertained.

Clomid: If you are just starting clomid on day 6, it will not be as effective as if you have started it on day 3 or 5 as is generally recommended. However, it will not harm you to start it on day 6.

Either/or: Both regimes seem to work, I have seen different practitioners use one of the above protocols. Certainly, if you have tried one of the above regimes for 3 months or so, may switch to the other regime to see if that perhaps would work (assuming you are on the right dosage).
