Tinea corporis: Tinea corporis (ringworm) is a fungal infection of the skin generally characterized (intially) by a red raised round patch, followed by central clearing and an advancing border.  Treatment is with topical antifungals.     Healing lesions are usually brown and dry, and with time should assume the color of the surrounding skin.  Moisturizing may help it normalize faster.

my 6yr old daughter has ring worm on her chin. i've been applying coravex for the last 3 days.  when does it become non-contagious and when can i send her back to school.

Now: Any possibility of spread for ringworm requires direct contact. After a few days of this cream the risk in minimized. I do not exclude kids from school for ringworm if the sore can be covered or they have been treated a few days. Total return of the skin to a normal appearance may take a month or more.

Yes: Or the fungus may be resistant to the anti fungal. A wet prep of material scraped from the site could sort this out.

have had ringworm for a number of times. was given a dosage of griseofulvin tablets and miconaz cream that have been using but there is no change. the ringworms are still on the skin. what can i do?

: Wash and dry all clothing and bed linen thoroughly, minimize the moisture of the groin area or where the lesions are prominent and continue to take griseofulvin tablet (2-4 weeks) and apply antifungal cream, twice daily. The pill should be effective but it takes longer time. The fact that you are treated with oral antifungal med means you have a widespread or relatively resistant case of ringworm.

Fungal infection: Griseofulvin is an antifungal medication that is used to treat resistant fungal infections and especially frequently used for tinea capitus (kerion) - which is a fungal infection in the hair or scalp. Various: It may be ringworm that is just not sensitive to  the Griseofulvin treatment, or it may be a thick dandruff of the skin, psoriasis, or other conditions.

: Ringworm can be spread by direct contact with the surface of the involved skin. Covering the location diminishes potential for transfer to others. Within days, use of an effective antifungal reduces potential to transfer. By three weeks if it is/was fungal any residual skin changes are likely due to the distortion of skin tone by the germ win no remaining active fungus.

how do i know ringworm is no longer contagious & is healing? some spots i can barely see & others are dried out & scabby looking. i put clorox on them all & used lotrimin. i'm now using md prescribed ketoconazole once a day for 2 weeks & tea tree oil?

: There are some general feature of healing. When the surface texture is similar to the surrounding skin (no longer raised or rough) it is healing. Ring worm is not that contagious after the first says of proper treatment.
